Greg Brown in the bard of rural midwestern (especially Iowan) life. In a career that stretches back to the hootenanny 1960s, he has played every kind of venue from coffee houses to concert halls; written weekly songs-to-order for "A Prairie Home Companion"' started Red House Records; made lots of albums (something like two dozen); and seen his tunes covered by artists ranging from Willie Nelson to Joan Baez to Carlos Santana to Ani Di Franco to Jeff Bridges (in "Crazy Heart"). Brown has said, "I don't know where the music comes from or where it's going." Come to the concert and watch it pass through on its way to wherever.
