    A young student arrives for a private tutorial, but all is not as it seems: is her esteemed professor brilliant, befuddled, or simply insane? And what of the mysterious housekeeper who keeps interrupting? Written in 1951 and a classic example of “Theatre of the Absurd,” Ionesco’s brittle examination of knowledge and power retains its unique ability to both amuse and disturb its audience.
