One of the most pulse-pounding brass groups on the scene today hails from the south side of Chicago. Hypnotic Brass Ensemble freely mix rich brass traditions with generous doses of hip hop, soul and funk, creating a boisterous blend that is just barely contained in their live stage shows.

The band is made up of seven brothers. Their father, Kelen Phil Corhan, is well known as a trumpeter and bandleader who worked with jazz giant Sun Ra Arkestra, as well with Earth, Wind & Fire.

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble has perfomed around the globe with stars Mos Def, Erykah Badu, Prince and Wu Tang Clan. Their song ‘War” was featured on the soundtrack for the film, The Hunger Games. Their shows have been described as “incendiary”, “mesmerizing” and “irrepressibly raucous” – one thing is certain, you’ve never hear brass like this.
