“Warp speed” takes on a whole new meaning, as artist Joe Muehlbauer leads our amazing exploration of fiber arts! We will explore the ins and outs of basic weaving; from frame to table looms, learning a few terms, and tid-bits about different fibers along the way. Using what we’ve studied, Joe will teach us how to create a decorative piece (perfect on the wall, under a plant, or as a potholder) using a simple plastic loom. Next, Joe will guide us step-by-step through the art of Japanese braid-making, called kumihimo, to create either a beautiful bracelet or necklace, you choose! At the end of our session you will walk away with two amazing projects, the simple loom and braiding disk for future projects, and will have had a “sew” much fun creating!

Complete this project in about an hour (or two depending on project choice!)
What you’ll find (or need to collect from your home) in your Materials Kit:
- Kumihimo Braiding Disk (kit includes 5.91 inch/15cm disk by Dazzle-It!®, which can be used over and over again! )
- Four Colors of Satin Rattail Cord (kit includes 2 yards of brown, honey, white and black)
- Plastic Weaving Loom (we are using a 7.25 inch loom by Pepperell, which can be used for this project on many more)
- Fiber loopers (kit includes a bag of approx 45 assorted colors)
- Plastic or metal crochet hook
